Knitting & Stitching Books Pics

At next month’s Knitting & Stitching Show (7-11 October, Alexandra Palace), GMC has a bumper line-up of incredible craft names hosting workshops, demonstrations and book signings at Stand D25.

You can meet knitting superstars Nicky Epstein, Debbie Bliss and Erika Knight, watch Carol Feller demonstrate how to use short rows and ask Alison Howard anything you wanted to know about knitting but were afraid to ask. If crochet is more your thing, make flowers with Super+Super, granny squares with Susan Pinner or, for something unusual, use string as your yarn to create charming coasters with Jemima Schlee.

Find inspiration with textile artist Cas Holmes, pick up embroidery tips from Susie Johns and admire Natalia Price-Cabrera’s stunning homemade lampshades. Jewellery-makers can join Sian Hamilton for a polymer clay Make & Take and Great British Sewing Bee fans are in for a treat as Claire-Louise Hardie, the author of the latest book, visits the stand, as well as former contestants Chinelo Bally and Tilly Walnes.

There’s lots happening whichever day you visit, so make sure you pop along to GMC Stand D25 to check out the schedule and see who you could meet!

Summer is here, and Breast Cancer Care is encouraging us to host a strawberry tea event this July or August to raise vital money for those affected by breast cancer. Whether you invite your knitting group over for some strawberries and cake in the garden, or you host an all-out afternoon tea party, simply ask for donations from those attending to raise the much-needed money.

Why not use the opportunity to sell some strawberry-themed knits, such as tea cosies or summer bunting, to raise some extra money too? Whether you can host a large event or a small one, every donation will help the charity with their work, with all funds raised helping to provide specialist nurses, local services and an emotional support network for those who need it.

To sign up for a free Strawberry Tea Starter Kit go to breastcancercare.org.uk/strawberry or call 0300 100 4442. Get involved on social media by tweeting @bccare with hashtag #StrawberryTea
