Win a collection of knitted character books, from fairytales to farmyards and zombies by Fiona Goble, author of the infamous Knit Your Own Royal Wedding!
Fiona Goble, author of Knit Your Own Royal Wedding and T'was the Knits before Christmas, is a prolific knitter and has a wild imagination, which is lucky for us! This autumn has seen a number of new knitted character books from Fiona, including Fairy Tale Knits, Farmyard Knits and Knit Your Own Zombie and we have teamed up with Ivy Press to give four readers a chance to win all three!
Fairy Tale Knits
Ivy Press, £9.99
Everybody loves a good fairy tale. In fact, the way this book is laid out, and the fact it is hardback, reminds me a lot of the fairy tale books I had as a child, which I'm sure is no accident. Fiona excels in creating knitting books that also tell stories so here you will find six classic tales with 20 characters to make, from Goldilocks and Beauty and the Beast to Little Red Riding hood and Hansel and Gretal, each with their own stories, amusing illustrations and instructions. Little girls will love Rapunzel and her long blond hair whilst boy's will enjoy the deliciously wicked looking wolf while I rather like the Beast/Prince and his removable beast head and claws!
Ivy Press, £9.99
This lovely book follows farmers Frank and Anna through a day at their farm, starting with daybreak and collecting the eggs to milking the cows to herding the sheep, each section interspersed with knitted characters to make, including Frank and Anna, chickens, horses, piglets, sheep, a tractor and, of course, Bess, their trusted collie. There's even a play mat of rolling hills that doubles up as a snuggly blanket and a card pullout at the back for the horse's cart to build, hitch up and take a turn around your farm. This is such a sweet book, it's crying out to be read with somebody small who would enjoy re-enacting the story with their soon-to-be-completed knitted characters.
Knit Your Own Zombie
Fiona reveals her darker side in this sinister, albeit tongue in cheek, book that includes eight easy-to-knit - and even easier to dismember - spooky characters to get stuck into. From Frankenstein's monster and Dracula to zombie cop, zombie fatale and, my personal favourite, zombie gravedigger skeleton, who was apparently once a woman and is still wearing her hat. From blood and guts to arms and legs, each piece is separate so you can create your own ghoulish monsters if you fancy playing at Dr Frankenstein. Mwahhhh haaaa haaaaaa! As it says in the book itself, 'The undead have never looked so appealing!'
For your chance to win, please tell us: What is the name of farmers Frank and Anna's trusty collie?
Email your answer, with the subject 'Fiona Goble competition' and your name and address included, to firstname.lastname@example.org by Friday 9 November 2012.
We will pick four winners at random and send out your prizes asap. Good luck everyone!
