Save the Snakes Jewellery
25 February 2013
Jewellery designer (and rock-and-roll socialite) Meg Mathews is donating profits from her snake-themed jewellery line to save snakes.
Meg decided to go vegan at the beginning of this year, and along with it she ditched all of the exotic skins, handbags and shoes from her wardrobe. Now she's going a step further, as she is donating all the proceeds from the snake-themed collection of jewellery Venom to the charity People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).
Visitors to the Peta website can also enter a competition to win a Venom necklace, worth £449! The website is www.action.peta.org.uk. Meg Matthews says that, "I have always been inspired by the beauty and exotic nature of snakes, but when I learned how these animals suffer when they are skinned for nothing more than a bag or belt, it gave me the creeps and I could never wear them again.

What inspires Lesley Watt

Woops! It seems that in issue 51, March 2013 of Making Jewellery we have printed Lesley Watt's name as Lesley Wyatt on our Inspirations page, p69.
Her website details are correct, though, so do take a peak at her sites to see her gorgeous jewellery designs inspired by the Jurassic coastline in Dorset.
