Best hair & make up in the south!
Who are you and what do you do for Knitting magazine?
My name is Jeni Dodson and I am a freelance session hair and make-up artist. I collaborate with Emma and Katy to create a look for our model that is in keeping with their brief for each particular photo shoot. Wether we are keeping to a theme, off on location, I take into account possible hair style or make-up changes through out the shoot. I stay on hand to re-powder and tend to any possible flyaway hairs - and we've been to some very windy locations!
What is the best thing about working for Knitting magazine?
I often take my inspiration from the colours, textures and the incredible designs. The diversity of the yarn never ceases to amaze me. I love bringing ideas to life and working with Emma and Katy is so much fun, and sometimes an education! I also get to try on these gorgeous creations!!
When and how did you get into Hair and Make-up?
Since as far back as I can remember I've been an independent, creative gal painting and moulding all manner of things. My medium just happens to be hair and make-up. Starting out as a hairdresser in London I soon became involved in creating the avant-garde for shows and photo shoots. It was here that I was head-hunted by an agent which enabled me to travel around the globe working in the commercial and fashion world, from New York to Milan. It's every little girls dream, only I never grew up!
When I'm not busy being part of Team Knitting I'm...
Looking after my business www.jenidodson.com which takes up most of my time. As they say, 'if you find a job you love, you will never have to work a day in your life!' I also work closely with designers, celebrities, musicians, models and brides-to-be. When I have time, I like to work on personal artistic projects. I adore living in Brighton and enjoy all it has to offer.

Outside the box!
If you could only ever use one beauty product ever again what would it be?
Golly thats a hard one - I work in the advertising industry and am well versed on hype, packaging and false claims that go with each and every product.
I prefer to opt for natural remedies for skin care. If I had to choose one product it would be Organic Rosehip Oil - a powerhouse full of nutrients and essential fatty acids that play a vital role in the regeneration process of our skin cells and the repair of damaged tissues. It's an ultra-fine oil that absorbs instantly allowing the skin to breathe as it works, helping reduce the appearance of scars, fine lines and pigmentation and restoring the skins moisture balance.
