Kate Just at I Knit London
Thursday, August 8, 2013
Kate Just is coming to I Knit London every Thursday evening in August to work on her new project.
I Knit London is very excited to announce that Kate Just is joining them every Thursday evening in August to work on her amazing new project Knit HOPE. Kate is inviting anyone who wants to take part to help her knit banners of hope. All materials will be provided.
Kate won the British Council Realise Your Dream Award in 2013 and is traveling the country to work with artists, knitters and community groups "to produce public, performative art work". The project focuses on creating large knitted banners that spell the word 'HOPE' in block capitals.
During August and September 2013 she'll be posting details of locations where she'll be knitting. Keep your eyes peeled!
The Knit HOPE project follows on from her previous use of text and knitting to create positive messages and increase the visibility of women in particular. Kate says that, "The Knit HOPE Project will affirm craft, public collectivity and optimism as powerful ongoing tools and strategies for transforming culture and ourselves."
